My Power

Power for me is having strength combined with a good "let-it-go button". I learned the latter from my formidable mother-in-law. She combined full-time work in a male-dominated profession with being a good mother and wife in a time when that was not the norm. Now, of course, you shouldn't ignore it all, but the ability not to take minor setbacks too seriously and the ability to rejoice in everything that succeeds is invaluable. I am a mother of four children, approaching my silver wedding anniversary with my husband, and have worked as a manager for the past 15 years. It has been important for me to create a good foundation for my children and my marriage. I contribute energy to my work and believe that together we can succeed. Occasionally, my mother-in-law's "let-it-go button" has to be used so that the small challenges don't take over. It is a huge strength to be able to laugh, to be happy and to have the belief that you can succeed.
