My Power

I don't believe in boxes, and I think we should work actively to break them down where we encounter them. Whether it's stereotypical perceptions of gender and gender differences in society or whether it's in business contexts, I'm a big opponent of us putting each other in boxes. As a business leader, I don't measure myself against others who identify as female business leaders just because we identify as the same gender. Nor do I see myself in opposition to those who identify as male business leaders. I believe that we should evaluate each other based on what we bring to the table. And that we each have a responsibility to develop ourselves as we ourselves want. We cannot leave the responsibility to others. Neither those who came before us and who have defined the boxes that we live with today, nor those who come after us. As a business leader in an industry that has a long history and is also characterized by the same, I am therefore very concerned that we must dare to identify the areas where we ourselves fall into these boxes, and work with ourselves as an organization to break out of them, so that together we do not just build on something already established, but use what exists both as inspiration for what we carry forward, but also to be critical about how it can be used to develop differently.
